Join us every Sunday night at 8:00 p.m. CST / 6:00 p.m. Pacific for the Dub Review Vox Box! The Vox Box is our weekly chat session. We primarily discuss current dub-related topics, though anything is up for discussion. Everyone is invited-- dub personnel and fans alike! We hope you'll join us each week in the Vox Box.

At one time we offered transcripts of previous Vox Box sessions. We've stopped doing this for the time being, due to confidentiality concerns. However, we still provide some of the older transcripts for your reading pleasure, so that you can get an idea of what to expect from our weekly chat. You can check them out here.

What do I need to join the chat sessions?

Actually, you don't need anything. Just click here to join the chatroom.

That link will take you to our own chat client, which runs on our Web site. Some people might prefer not to go this route-- that is, they'd rather use a chat client of their own, running on their own machine. If you're not one of those people, then click on the link above to join our chatroom, and disregard the rest of this page. Otherwise, read on...

If you're using Windows, download mIRC. mIRC is the most commonly-used IRC client on Windows, and we've provided a brief tutorial below that will show you how to get into the Vox Box using mIRC.

If you're a Mac user, download Ircle.

How do I get into your chatroom?

For those of you that don't need any instruction, here's the necessary information:

Server: irc.dejatoons.net
Channel: #dubreview

For the rest of you, here's how to connect to the Vox Box. This tutorial is based on mIRC, the IRC chat client of choice for Windows users.

Step One

You should have mIRC installed by this time. Go ahead and start it up. Here's what you should see:

Diagram 1

The first thing you need to do is click the "Add" button. This will bring up a window in which you can enter some information. Enter this information in the respective boxes:

Description: DejaToons
IRC Server: irc.dejatoons.net

Leave the other boxes alone, and click OK.

Now we're back to the original window. There are two drop-down boxes at the top. Leave the first one alone. You're going to need to change the second one, though.

Diagram 2

See? This is that second drop-down box we were talking about. When you click on it you'll see a GARGANTUAN list of stuff, but the one you want is "DejaToons". It should already be selected, but if not then click the drop-down list to change it.

Step Two

The next step is to enter some information about yourself.

Diagram 3

1) Put your real name, or your nickname (strongly recommended), here.
2) Put your nickname here again.
3) This is where you put the nickname you want to use on IRC, like DubFan486 or something. Make sure you choose something that you don't expect anyone else to be using. If the nickname you choose is already in use, you'll have to change it.
4) This is where you can put a nickname you want to use if it turns out that your first choice was taken.

Step Four

Click "Connect to IRC Server". If everything is cool, you'll see a bunch of scrolling text, and then this screen will pop up:

"What channel do you want to join?" Huh? Well, every chatroom has a name, and all you need to do now is tell mIRC what chatroom you want to visit. To get to the Vox Box, just type "dubreview" in the box, and click "Join".

That's it-- you're in!

Remember, the Vox Box is open on Sunday nights after 8:00 p.m. CST (9:00 p.m. Eastern, 6:00 p.m. Pacific). If you stop by any other time, there probably won't be anyone there. Every Sunday night, feel free to stop on in and chat with us-- you never know who might pop in! We had Bob Barker on once, and a magical typing kangaroo. It was great!
